unable to connect

i am unable to connect to the game. it will start but once it reaches the handshake part it stops sayin that i need to try again or push teleport. when i push teleport i get disconnected. i was jst one this game until 3 am est. i dont know what to do. i tried to uninstall and then reinstall but that didnt help either. i even tried to reteleport from the www.slurl.com site but that didnt work either. i even tried to restart the computer but nothing works. someone pls tell me what to do exactly. and give me real information that will work for me. thank you for ur time
p.s. if u uninstall ur program and then reinstall do u lose all ur objects and things that u have purchased?

Your inventory is on Linden Lab servers, so no, you haven't lost anything.
A few things to try:

Undo the power cord on your modem and router, leave it of for two or three minutes then restart them (resets them).
Bin your Settings.xml
Clear your cache
There are files associated with your account that survive a reinstall - you could throw them away.

What OS?

On XP it's: C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\SecondLife <--not visible by default
That's where your chatlogs live, so extract them if you want them.

well i deleted my cache. and u said to send my settings xml document to the recyclin bin correct?, if so when i did that and tried to strart the game it wouldnt so i had to restore that file. am i to delete the other sttings xml documents? and what is OS?

I meant the one in AppData - sorry, should've been more clear. You could try renaming that SL folder in Docs&Settings (say, add a 1 or something) so SL will create a new one - and see if that helps. If not just put the original folder back as it was - no harm done.

OS = operating system, like XP or what-have-you.

I'm having the exact same problem. I've unhooked everything, reinstalled everything cleared cache blah blah blah and still the same exact thing when I try to log in. Last time this happened I was told "your video card is too good and we don't support it" ( although when i CAN log in i never have much problem...besides my face being distorted periodically and things not rezzing properly until i cam way out then back in again....) yeahhhhhh it's on my end....RIGHT!!!!
