is anyone else having this problem: the update version download text box comes up - I download - it supposedly loads the new !.5.5 and then returns me to the log in screen - i put in my password and log in and get the update download text box etc etc. I have downloaded 3 times and still get the "update needed before playing" and so the dance continues. any help would be appreciated  |

hi selador, normally when i install the update it - i assume - overrides or overwrites? the last version and uninstalls it - usually i find it in my trash folder. I have never uninstalled any version and have been on since 1.3.

Either I am really stupid, or the image it is mounting (which calls it 1.5.5 btw when you download the dmg directly from downloads off here) or it is naming itself 1.5.4.
We have no way of upgrading because our package is 1.5.4 when you disk mount the image and get info on it. Read yourself... :/

I am having the same problem also!
I uninstalled then reinstalled, tried different things, and still going through the same thing.
I'm glad it's not just me!

Wrong version bundled

We have the wrong version number bundled as the dmg for mouting. When you click on the disk image and get info it has the old version number. This is why we cannt upgrade. We are installing the old version packaged as 1.5.5 A linden will have to resolve the issue. Meanwhile, sorry no connect on the mac. Installing on my pc now... blah.

There's a problem with the Mac 1.5.5 download both automatic and on the website. We're aware of it and working to get the correct version up.

thanks colin - nice to hear that you are working on it. i will save my gripe list until i see if 1.5.5 has corrected some of us mac users long standing issues. It would be nice not to feel handicapped in game.

extremely annoying to say the least ... you wait for SL to come back up and then it's the usual routine known from other game developers ... windows first ... then mac sometime, plus the mac version is extremely buggy compared to windows version. I shouldnt be getting 0.5fps on a dual 2GHz G5 maxed out with everything possible and a 3Mbit connection. it's a shame!

I hope you'll post a notice when the corrected version is ready. I don't want to keep wasting bandwidth downloading the wrong version over and over and over and...
