Did you reboot? Are your drivers up to date?

What brand and model of motherboard, and is it using the latest BIOS?
Did James' suggestion work? I assume so, it usually does.
Angel is correct. Your video card is crap, especially compared to the rest of your system. You can get a cheap GeForce FX 5200 for about $60 US, maybe less. That'll work a lot better for SL.

...or you can get a cheap 5600 ultra for about 80-90 ...a good deal, and a solid card

(I'd go with the 5600.)

From: someone Originally posted by Angel Leviathan umm.. Make sure you get a new graphics card or your Second Life is going to look like poo. I find running with a TNT2 (the good kind, with 32MB of RAM and AGP interface) is actually quite playable. :-)

being able to compare a TNT2 Ultra 32M upstairs and a GF5700 128M downstairs I can officially confirm Angel's statement... it *does* look like poo... but as long as you have some CPU behind it and dont mind not having bump, shiny, etc it works just fine. I *do* mind not having shiny things and floppy hair/clothes... gotta find a cheap FX card for that machine UU
