The following cards have not been tested with Second Life, and compatibility is not certain: * NVIDIA cards that report as Quadro * ATI cards that report as RADEON IGP or RADEON XPRESS >>>>>>* ATI cards that report as FireGL <<<<<< * ATI cards that report as FireMV maybe... i would not bother buying it tho |

dident know it was a fire GL maybe theres someone who plays second life and uses it that will come on and say it works And someone might just do that...........but that does not mean it will work on your computer without some workarounds. Or it may not work to your satisfaction. Osgeld gave you an honest answer.........so now you want someone to tell you it will work satisfactorily. It may..........it may not. That's about as honest as one can get. |

I believe those both are onboard graphics chipsets. Nortorious for having big problems running SL. It's entirely possible that someone has been able to make theirs work.......but that does not mean it will work for you.
Get it at your own risk...........the answer's the same. It may work, it may not. |

I have an onboard ATI 3100 in my laptop and SL works just fine on it. I have a Toshiba with 4 GB ram and a 320 GB hard drive. Hope that helps.

i would not bother buying toshiba either, if the shoe does not fit, then thats not the computer for you now is it?
there are plenty of companies out there willing to give you a decent card in your laptop for the same price, the fire gl 3100 is basicly a bottom of the barrel ati card from like 7 years ago, its, quite honestly, pathetic one can have a pretty pimped out dual core intel with 4gb of ram and a nice geforce for less, and with a name brand ive had my share of Toshiba laptops in my days... they are the apple of the PC world they are for the business person wanting to seem hip or the total hacker, who can take their laptop and quadruple its potential with some bell wire and a iron noone in between, they are overpriced, run hot, and always underpowered |

both those geforces are on the low end of things, if i had to choose, i would use the 8200m
heres a couple of alternatives for 50$ more http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3594769&CatId=3985 sporting a geforce go 7300, altho it only has 1gb of ram and you will need to upgrade that asap or for 100$ more http://www.ibuypower.com/ibp/store/configurator.aspx?mid=295 which has a geforce 8600m GT, which would be killer and has 2 gb of ram, if you can save your money a while longer, i would take that battalion, max out its ram, and get the 800mhz / 2.4 ghz chip, which puts you around a grand (1,074 to be exact) HP will gladly sell you one with a 2ghz cpu, 4gigs of ram and a radieon HD for 800 also I would just wait abit longer and spend your money on something worth while, so your not spending another 700$ next year my wife did that a few years ago before we started dating, ask her how much she loves her outdated and slow desktop, and her broken e-crap i mean machines she pissed 400$ tween the 2 |
