Setting up a computer for basic access to SL for things like RP sims and messages and chatting with friends.

Setup as is:
P4 2.6ghz
1.7GB DDR RAM (1+ 3x256)
EVGA e-Geforce PCI FX 5200 128 MB

Would it actually be possible to be done with that gfx card?
I know there's going to mainly be lag but I'm looking into if its possible before I grab the card.

the 5200 presented SL as a slideshow 2 years ago, and if your using pci it will be even worse

get atleast a 6600(GT)

XD yey im screwed.
well I could try to dig up one but this is just for a spare away from home thing. I can only use PCI unless I can find a low bracket agp card.

heres a 40$ 6200

altho you would need to by a 10-12$ set of brackets unless your feeling adventurous with your metal working ability's

the arguments over even a agp 5200 are

core
250mhz vs 350 mhz
ram
300mhz vs 400mhz
2x the amount
ddr vs gddr2

general
color management vs everything modern

and your not totally screwed ... the 5200 will run SL, this 6200 has a better fighting chance of it being enjoyable, but it is still a pretty low end card its self

yeah I just need it so I can get on when I get breaks at work to check things.
At my place I run a fast system and I've built a lot of decent systems while at work.
This one runs perfectly though, I get a decent 8 fps-13fps in RP sims with a decent number of people. All thats off is the coloring being a little dark, but thats what I get for grabbing the 5200 PCI 128 mb card, but it was cheap and does the job :3 and I havent upgraded the ram yet, going to up that a ton next week.
