SL Crashing

This is very annoying.... when standing around my place listening to streaming music and IMing and SL crashes (which seem to happen on a regular basis) I get absolutely no indication that I've been disconnected. The music is still streaming and I can type away, but until I try to move or notice I have no incoming IMs I have no idea I've been dumped!

Does anyone have any ideas on how I might get an indication that SL has crashed on me, maybe some type of script that pings some online SL resource and alerts me when things go awry?

Thnx,

That is not really a crash...........though it might as well be. You are losing your connection to the LL servers. There are any number of reasons for that to happen but the most common cause is your router/modem needs to be reset. Shut down your computer and then unplug your modem and/or router from the electrical source for 3 to 5 minutes. Plug them back in (wait for those little LED's to settle down....a few seconds) and boot your computer up...........see if that helps.

Restarting SL works just fine. This has been a long term problem. Do you think resetting my modem/router would be a LONG term fix?

For the most part resetting my router and modem clears the connection problems (when I experience them) for about a month..........maybe longer. So many things going on with SL I'm sure has something to do with routers and modems getting all clobbered up with junk that slows them down........like they have a caching problem. A total guess on my part about caches.........maybe someone more knowledgable than I will chime in with a better reason.

Anyway........"no, that is not a long term solution". You will have to do that occassionally. But, a question: Did that fix you?
