I bug'd this, and alerted lindens, but posting here to see if anyone else is having problems.

It appears for new scripts, llSay is broken.

Case in point:

-Create any prim.
-Click Contents tab
-Click New Script
-Save the default "hello avatar" script
-The script should immediately make the object say "Hello avatar" and should say "touched" when touched. It does neither.

Sure you haven't muted "Object" ??
This is a classic.

I just did your test Hiro and my new object said "Hello Avatar!"and "Touched."

I think Raphael might be right.

*giggle* I did that once, and totally forgot I had done it. Then, trying to troubleshoot some scripting, and I couldn't get any responses from the object... I almost went insane trying to figure it out. ^^

Dear god, Object was muted.

*so embarassed*

What made me bug report it was the fact that another person had the same stupid problem.

Maybe this is something LL can permanently unmute?

Maybe I can make all my attachments say "hello" on a .1 second timer? :)

No, the correct behaviour is the current one. If there could be some kind of indicator icon to show that something had been said by a muted object, that might be a better idea.

You can usually see the particles around the object when it "speaks". A good sign you've muted it.

And don't ask me how I know so much about this ;-)
