Is there a way to bypass the hardware detection when launching the SL client? Perhaps a command line switch of some sort when executing secondlife.exe?

Edit your Secondlife shortcut, and add -noprobe to the end to turn on hardware check..
"-noprobe disable hardware probe" from http://secondlife.com/badgeo/wakka.php?wakka=newview |

Yes thanks!
I found out that the command line -noprobe indeed skips the hardware detection, however the client still pops-up a message dialog complaining about my old Radeon 7200 video card. Which is indeed under minimum specs, but it runs JUST FINE! It's running on an old Pentium III 1Ghz, 512megs RAM, and using ATI Radeon 7200 (AGP) with 64megs RAM. The current ATI drivers work great now. In the past I had to use older drivers from ATI (about a year old version) for it to run properly. I wish I could launch the client with out it nagging me about my video card every time. ![]() _____________________

As far as I know SL only detects graphics hardware, and it only does this on first launch.
There is a tick box in preferences under the general tab that you can tick to force redetection of graphics hardware, maybe it's staying ticked for someone reason in your case. On startup mine always says Detecting Hardware but only for a brief moment, just part of the startup sequence I should imagine. Good luck _____________________
