Here they are,
http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/winxp/radeonwdm-xp.html?type=xp&prodType=graphic&prod=productsXPdriver&submit.x=7&submit.y=8&submit=GO%21

Haven't tried them yet myself since I wait for the Omega versions... Anyone see any improvements?

LOL, I just posted the same thing on the sticky thread. Yeah.. Just installed them at home via VNC. Anyone heard the good word on whether or not these drivers improve or address any of the SecondLife issues?

Demerits to ATI for not releasing a detailed changelog with itemized bugfixes and updates. (Or for placing it somewhere obscure- e.g.: not on the download site nor in the actual driver package itself). C'mon, ATI, get with the program!

Perhaps this, combined with SL 1.3, will bury my random crashes, system lockups on minimize, and corrupt textures.

The new driver contains no fixes specific to SL. It does have an improved pixel shader for cards with hardware DX9 support.

I noticed with the new ATI drivers that there would be a long (e.g.: 1-2s) pause with no frame updates when I would click the cursor on the screen. After a while it crashed. Slow AND unstable. Nice package you got going there, ATI. Retrograding to 2004-02-15 version of drivers at least removed the constant pauses.

Like I keep saying: ATI can't code a driver to save their own life.

Come. Join with the dark side of the GeForce!

Yes, it's the new ATI drivers. Had same problems as above, lag, slowing streaming to cache, freezes. Reloaded ATI drivers from February, and now there are no problems.

I'd order an NVidia 5950 today, except I hear that there are some extremely better cards coming from NVidia and ATI in a couple of months. Anyone have word on that?

Yeah. There are always extremely better cards comming out from thin in a few months. Always. They will cost $500+ too. :) I got a 5700 Ultra and aside from it taking its own additional power hookup (like a HD does), I'm happy with it.

Has there been any progress on the issue with the slowdown (more like pause, really) in the newest ATI drivers and SecondLife 1.2.x on mouse cursor selection events? I'd love to be running the newer Catylist drivers....

Also, what sort of roadmap is there for progress with outstanding ATI issues? I'm definitely game for testing client fixes.

Well, I'm using 4.2 (the Omega release), and sticking with it for now. 4.3 seems to create a few nasty problems. At this point, Chromal, I don't think its going to be a client fix. ATI needs to change the way that their cards access the texture cache in OpenGL mode, which they have tried to do, but haven't succeded with as of yet. I still think that ATI cards are, on the whole, better than nVidia's cards, because they run faster and don't need those massive cooling systems (I run a 9200 Pro in my laptop, 350Mhz/250Mhz). They also are, on the whole, selected as the "flagship card" for many big games, like HL2. The benchmarks for HL2 were 30fps on a Radeon 9500, and 10fps on a nVidia 5700 Ultra.
