For the past few days people around me aren't rezzing. Everything on the sim: buildings, objects, all are completely fine. There's hardly any lag, not anymore then i normaly have, but the people all around me are no more then sparkley smoke clouds.

Does anyone have any idea what to do? I've already uninstalled and reinstalled Second Life. When i first logged on it looked like it was fixed, but when i logged on after that its no better then it was.

What the OP is discribing could be server side lag or it could be client side lag or it could a combination of both. There's no way of knowing for sure...........mostly the problem originates on the person's computer. But when the person with the problem does not provide any information about the system they are using to access SL it's impossible to give any good suggestions.........just the generic clear cache, relog song and dance. It gets frustrating..............to the point that I seldom even offer suggestions until the person provides specs.

On the grey avatars taking extremely long times to rezz completely I can tell you that 95% of the time (or greater) that is a client side issue (read user's system). It most often is due to a low spec'd machine or on a low bandwidth connection. Or even being so far from the servers that ping times are extreme. Not much can be done with the pings if simply due to distance. But, often there are things that can be done to help if the person simply gives the often asked for specs......I'm not claiming to be one, but there are quite a few people here who are expert enough to really help.

So, with all the information provided so far in this thread I say clear your cache, relog.

My explanation for the clouding when theres no obvious server lag is, that your client was too "busy" loading the building and other objects that it prorized those, somehow dropping the people data loading or rendering. Activating another group for a few seconds and then switching back to the one you used before usually retriggers this event and cloudpeople turn into ordinary people.
