Can I change (increase) my selection/editing distance

Rather a strange one this............

Put a Megaprim out and I can't do anything with it, due to it's centre being in the centre of the prim and this centre being too far away for me to edit it (out of range)

Can I increase the range at which you can edit items?

Advanced Menu - untick Limit Selection Distance

Ctrl-Alt-D to bring up Advanced menu.
