I don't know if that's what you mean... this thing lets you send IMs from inside SL out to the various IM clients. At least that's what it says on its home page. |

Oh, no.
Well, there are some programs that do that. I'll have to try to look them up again. None of them work on computers where you can't connect to SL, though. If you're blocked from SL by a firewall, the non-graphic clients are blocked as well. The best thing you can do, as far as I know, is to use zonkster (www.zonkster.com) to send an IM inworld. When your friend replies, their IM will go into your email, and you can reply (via email). It's a little disconcerting for your friend, because they see your IMs as if you're inworld, but you're not. You can keep replying to someone's IM via email for a day or so, I think. Make sure you delete their email when you reply, though, because you don't want to hit the character-count limit, or give away your RL email address. Also, make sure your signature doesn't give away any RL info if you're going to be doing this. I'll see if I can get a list of the non-graphic SL clients now. |

Here's is a list:
http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Alternate_viewers#Text-Only_Viewers Also, there is a website that gave that sort of access, ajaxlife.net, but currently it's banned by LL. We'll see if it comes back to life. Its performance was always spotty, though. |
