Ya, I think my account has been hacked or something. when I was on I teleported to a place I go to usually, but after I was teleported I noticed something terribly wrong. for one, my shape was turned into a female, and when I changed it back to male, the whole shape was wrong. luckily i copied the shape and it wasn’t messed up. also I had bald hair on, and in my inventory it said i was still wearing it, but there’s hair on my head. I tried logging off then back on, and another change happened. I usually have black stripes on me since im a neko, but they were turned white. I have white stripes in my inventory, so someone must have put them on.

Edit: nope, looks like they actually changed my black stripes and edited them to white....

More likely you need to clear your cache and relog into a quiet sim. It sownds like you got "Ruthed"......fairly common in SL. The normal cure is a cache clearing.

Go to edit > preferrences > network tab then choose "Clear Cache"

You'll get a dialog box saying your cache will be cleared on your next login.....click okay and apply then relog.

Do people really go through all that cache clearing and what not?

I have only once ever cleared my cache intentionally, maybe twice.

Does it make a difference? Though i never have Ruth problems.

I just recently got a new PC and made a 10gig partition for the SL Cache to run on directly - that is about the most thought i have ever given that thing.

you could give SL a terabyte to use and it wouldnt matter, even with a gig set in the prefs it only uses about half of that before overwriting stuff, unless you use custom commands/hacks/clients

but yes it helps, if one chunk of it gets discomboggled its pretty much useless

Oh, it'll use the whole gig. Doesn't take that long, either.

As for giving it a 10GB partition, it'll only ever use 1GB, at least without doing any dirty hacks.

Clearing it is nice, though. You get a lot of old stuff in there, and, as Osgeld said, sometimes something becomes corrupt in the cache for whatever reason, and it makes things interesting.
