Hi, I currently have an EVGA 9600GT video card and want to upgrade to a 9800GT. I have found a good deal on a new BFG 9800 GT OC with 512mb of memory. Does anyone have any experience with this card and SL or BFG cards in general? The EVGA and the rest of my system has run well for me with SL, I just want more performance.
I'm running 32 bit Vista with 4 GB of memory and an Athlon dual core processor and a 450 watt PS.
Thanks.

I've got an older BFG 7800GT. Whatever I had before that was also a BFG..
Unless they've changed a ton in the last couple years, you'll be happy with them. Two thumbs up.

ive had a few bfg's
they overclock their chips abit
and their warranty is awesome
evga = 1 year bfg = lifetime
alittle speed bonus + better warranty = good to me
ive had to send back a evga 6600GT and a BFG6600GT
evga i had to fudge the receipt by a month to get them to RMA it, (i antecedently smeared a tator tot over the date), when it came back my wife got a new 7600GT
bfg i got the 6600GT back ... darn, but it was nearly 3 years after i bought it, and i didnt have to goto sonic
the bfg also has a much better heat sink, being a thick machined base with coopper fins and a thick (silent) fan and runs much cooler than the newer (and better designed 7600 chip)
the evga came with a bent postage stamp stuck on it and a fan that produces less wind than a childs pinwheel (but silent)
the power connections on the bfg have a metal strap around it, soldered to the board using nice high quality molex brand connector
the evga uses a generic nylon connector that if one was impaired or just being stupid could bend up with little force, but that should not be a problem in 99% of cases
the evga DID have a s-video port, analog VGA, and DVI connections, the bfg has dual dvi (which is nice but only comes with 1 dvi to vga adapter) and no tv out ... guess if you care about that, dont own a hdtv, and want to watch netflix, its a factor
the evga does run hotter due to its poor heat sync, but the next one i bought was a monster, so that is all model dependent, in terms of construction quality they both seem the same, no half assed soldered connections, ect

Last 3 cards BFG and as someone said..warranty is unique and awesome. I originally bought my 1st BFG card (6800 OC) from ebay from a seller in the states (as im UK). After a year or two, it failed for some reason (as many cards do..after time) and BFG changed the card without me having no warranty info or receipts!!..excellent service I believe the only company offering lifetime warranty of a GFX card?? They've sinced changed it again but for a 7800 even though its not a top spec 7800 but still..cannot fault them. Taz
