DSL & speed drops

I have DSL, and am having to constantly reset modem because after I exit the game, my speed lowers. If I want to download an update I especially notice it. If I do not reset modem, it can take 20 minutes or LONGER to d/l update, whereas if I reset modem, then it is under 4 minutes. I called ISP tech support today, and he had no clue what caused it, and, of course, said it was the game.

When I do a bandwidth test it will be in the 600s, but it usually drops to the 200s after exiting game. Right now it is:

626.2 Kbps - You 626.2 kbps

My ISP claims this is good for me, and that it has to be SL server with latency? I am not very techy knowledgeable so I hope this makes sense and someone can tell me if there is anything i can do.

Call tech support again and ask them if they use bandwidth throttling. I don't know about DSL ISPs but DirectPC actually throttles your speed down depending on how much you have been using the connection. As I said, I haven't heard that with terrestial ISPs but its worth checking.

It sounds like your ISP is lying to you, and that they're throttling your bandwidth. Call them on it.
