is the Windows version of the main SL client "shipping" with an older version of the FMOD dll ? I remember I once managed to find the correct version, according to the console/log, in some other program installed in my HD and copied it into the SL folder replacing the DLL that came with the client and the error msg stopped, but after a few new versions of the client while looking for somthing else in the console/log I spotted the error msg about older version of the DLL again, which makes me think the new version of the client overwrote the DLL with an older version, is that really it?

ps:at first I thought about posting this on the dev list but then I didn't felt confident enough this should go there so I posted here instead

First they came for the ageplayers,
I remained silent 'cause I wasn't an ageplayer

Then they came for the furries,
I didn't protest 'cause I wasn't a furry

Then they came for the goreans,
I didn't speak up because I wasn't gorean

Then they came for me,
and there wasn't anyone left to speak up for me

Yes, fmod used with SL (in all viewer versions) is v3.74, that's an older version. The current latest release is 4.24 but that one doesn't work with SL.

IIRC the error msg says the version should be 3.75 instead of 3.74

What version of SL are you using?

There's a related jira issue: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-1437 .

This jira includes the following statement:
From: Torley Linden
Tofu Linden let me know we're indeed on FMOD's 3.75... for some reason you're using 3.75 headers on a 3.74 library, so this is a "won't fix".

This was for version 1.17.0.x back in June of 2007.

You can ignore this error. SL ships with 3.74 for ages. Just right click on fmod.dll and look into properties / version.

I never really bothered about this error, but if you want to get the correct version have a look here, just replace the one in your SecondLife directory:
http://dllcentral.com/fmod.dll/3.75/

Jira 1437 re-opened.
