"My Inventory" Folder Missing

This morning around 7AM SLT I crashed. Upon return, the "My Inventory" folder was missing. I would type "worn" to see if at least I could pull up what I was wearing.. and it would begin to "Fetch" my inventory. Meanwhile, I tested a few things. If I tried to "take" an already rezzed object of mine, the viewer would crash. If I clicked on the map, I would crash. If someone gave me an object. I would crash. Later, after my inventory seemed to be done 'fetching' (The number of items matched what I remember seeing last (around 14,000)) I would crash again.

I reinstalled SL, I installed and tried the RC. And cleared the cache. Same results. I logged in with an Alt, and everything seems to be fine for the Alt. I have submitted a support ticket and haven't heard anything yet.

This seems to also match my problem: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/MISC-564

any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

It is either:

1. Gremlins
2. Hippos

Take your pick.

Uninstall SL again. Then after the installation do a search of your hard drive for anything SL and manually delete it. I would even go as far as doing disk cleanup to erase if from my trash folder. Then reinstall. Might work............it's happened before.

As I posted elsewhere in the forums, my wife received an email from LL, stating that they were sorry, all her inventory had been 'lost' and could not be retrieved due to numerous database rollbacks. The good news, she can still use her avatar name............ 4 1/2 years of inventory gone proof....

I've thought about that.. starting over with this avatar name. Problem is, I cannot accept any inventory without crashing, or click on the map without crashing. But -- my alt -- using the same computer, same SL viewer, has no problems whatsoever. Its strange.. and mind boggling.

The problem isn't on your end, but on your account's end with LL.

Put a support ticket in - or talk to Live Help if you're premium - if you haven't already since likely the longer you wait, the less chance there might be to recover anything at all.

(It's not surprising the viewer crashes if you don't have your inventory... it'll try to highlight the item among oher things but since it doesn't exist it'll crash on the bad reference)

Yeah, the compensation was that she can still use the avatar name LOL..... backups?... LL rolled back the backups, borked them and rolled forward a few steps, leaving a trail of destruction behind them. Who cares?.. they don't...

Who is to be the custodian of all your VR Worldly goods, is the one key factor preventing the almalgamation of the open sim platforms, including sl. In time, when it does happen, LL scripts will disappear, no point buying a scripted object that only works on LL sims when you seamlessly cross over in to another hosts sim next door, and the humble L$ as well.... we will probably use a universal currency called Cedit Cards, or Paypal.
