Hi

I have been using SL voice for the last few months... now while i had some problems it seemed to have fixed it self in December ....it would take a few goes at getting a IM call to connect but it eventually did....

I put up with that....but now it doesn't seem to work at all IM call or in world chat... when i log in i see my dot and name in the speakers list but no one elses, sometimes after 15min or so voice will suddenly start working....

But this is mainly what happens when i log in....

I'm having a similar problem. Don't tell me it's my router or networking card because A. other VoIP programs and sub-programs are working just fine, and B. if it's just your "SLVoice" program, that's extremely unfair. I don't have any idea whatsoever what the problem could be. All I know is that voice chat will work for a little while, then suddenly cut out in the middle of someone's sentence, then a few moments later it kicks back in and everything's right as rain for another thirty seconds or so. This is absolutely ridiculous...and those "Connecting... Connected!" messages are spamming my chat log! What perplexes me even further is the fact that no one else seems to be having this problem, despite the fact some of these people are on routers and wireless networks as well!

Linden Lab, let's hear some answers!

System Specifications
Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Sound Card
nVidia GeForce FX 5600LE
1.0 GB SDRAM
1.4 GHz Intel Pentium 4 Processor

Grrrrr took 6 pushes of the refresh button to get this up... what is happening with the site....i hate the 503 error grrr

well i got a "final resolution" to my voice problem ha ha ha.... directed me to http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Voice_FAQ been there done that before i submitted the last ticket....

I get the feeling Linden have given up trying to help me with my voice problem... wondering now what exactly do i pay premium for then???? I know there must be others out there who have the same problem.... i just don't get how it was working before and since the last upgrade it works when it chooses to... seriously thinking about not renewing my premium next time around....

Wondering now if i will 503 when i push "submit a reply" better take a copy to be on the safe side...

I'm bumping this topic in the hopes that maybe someone will actually have some answers at some point in the future. I'm having the exact same problems I'd previously mentioned and I can only assume that McBride is as well. That Wiki is next to useless if you want any answers, I'm sorry to say, and I know that only certain people seem to be having this issues, as I've said. I wanna know why, and I wanna know what I can do to fix it, if anything.

I experience the same problem connecting to voice on im. Sometimes get a connection straight away - but not very often. Other times it can take up to 12 times or more before a connection and then at times it will go crackly and distorted and have to reconnect. This never happened in the First Look Voice, why now.

my problem is that I can use voice chat in spatial, and in an IM situation with one other person. However, up until about 1-2 weeks ago, I could also use it in a friends' conference chat. This no longer works and I have no idea why!

I am bumping this again, and I'll keep hoping that someone will reply with a solution. I have been having the exact same problem as the original poster for the last 3 weeks, except my voice never starts working. Was working perfectly before that time, GRRRR. Running XP, no settings changed, no new configuration with my system or network.

I'm having the same issues. Sometimes voice will work, sometimes it will take 20 minutes to connect, sometimes it will never connect. It's like a lottery. Since voice is a requirement for meetings I attend, this is really bad. Besides that, voice IM never works for me.

====================

As near as I can tell, This issue is related to ports. I don't have the necessary skills to resolve this issue, and the SL website is a bit vague on such things. If anyone knows exactly which ports need to be open, could you please list them here. Thanks.

P.S. You would think LL would at least acknowledge those of us who are having this issue.

Well, looks like I'll add my two cents to this ongoing issue.

For the past few days now, I can't hear anything when connecting to private IM voice chat nor can the resident hear me. Chatting in open chat in world is fine, go figure. I'm using a Logitech USB headset and have my voice chat device settings in world set to my headset for both the mic and the speakers.

Why in the world would i be able to hear and chat with people in open chat but not in private chat when open and private chat use the same device settings?

Is there someone else out there having the same probs or has anyone come up with a solution? I sent in my ticket and waiting to hear something. Blah, blah blah

I have the same issue for months. Voice IM simply won't connect. It is not related to my configuration though. When I connect from abroad (same system) voice IM works. So the provider seems to be to blame. But it is not really an issue. I use Skype to talk to my closer friends. Everyone else has to use the public voice channel or type.
