I can't even get to the loggin screen. I click on the shortcut to start second life. The application window opens and is pure black....a few seconds later it cuts off and sends a crash report.
So now i'm isolated from my business and there's appalling tech support! What can I do?

Reinstalling has NOT. worked.
I have UPDATED. drivers
GFX: Radeon x800xl
Ram: 2gb 3200 speed
Win XP
amd +4400 64bit

Hi Simon. You say you have an SL business, so I'm gathering SL used to work just fine? Did you change anything at all in your setup, even just running some different software in the background?
Sounds like it may be an ISP or networking problem. Did you update your firewall? If so, check to see that all the required ports for SL are still open. Also try just power cycling your broadband access modem or router ... let it sit off for 15 minutes or so, then reconnect, to let network address entries time out. Are you in Britain? Specific ISPs in Britain seem to periodically whack individuals in this way ... |

There is a couple other threads reporting login failers with accompanying Crash Logger running then a failer to launch.
I am having the same issues, most people have Vista, AMD processors and ATI cards with this issue. I am using AMD 64 3700, 1gb ram, windows xp sp2, and ATI 2600 HD Pro. and it failed to launch after the crash logger runs, and after I updated my drivers it was ok for 1 day and now it does it still. I have submitted a service ticket and done the usual cache clean, uninstall, and even a couple registry cleans. Nothing has worked yet. |

Crashing After Login with ATI Cards

Try disabling "Catalyst AI" in the 3D options in Catalyst Control Center Advanced mode. It Helped me with my ATI HD2600 XT.... Now I only crash every 30 minuts or so..

Excatly the same Problem with lastes Viewer and even with the Windlight Viewer. Secondlife just opens a empty windows thats all.
8800GTS 512mb lates Nvidia Drivers installed. |
