Old sound drivers

This is a known bug with the soundblaster drivers.

Certain older drivers for the Sound Blaster Live! Value sound card are known to contain a bug which can lead to this condition. Update your drivers to the latest version available from your sound card manufacturer.

The Creative labs website is:

Hope this helps

Strange, I didn't experience this problem until version 5.
It only happens on that DELL server I have at work with on board sound. (I don't have admin on that machine, so I can't update the drivers.)

I dug up this thread to post on for my sound problem. I upgraded my Soundblaster Live drivers from the web sight and still get scratchy garbledy-gook, except for the keyboard sound. Any other ideas as how to resolve this. possibly how to tweak my card? I don't know, I'm out of ideas.
Thanks

Max -- I've had the exact same problem for awhile now, but it's on my whole computer. It happened when I upgraded to Windows XP. I originally thought it was the standard problem with my motherboard (VIA) and SB cards, but that doesn't seem to be it -- so now I'mplanning to upgrade my bios, although I've thus far been too lazy to actually do it.

no such luck on the bios update. My sound problem still stands. when I log the sound is fine then it quickly degrades after about 15 minutes.
