As the title says, I'm unable to teleport anywhere without crashing.. quite a nuisance, that. Any landmarks I open up say "Place information not available without server update."
Is there a fix for this?

Try logging in to secondlife on a different sim at login.
If that doesnt work, clear cache, and try logging in.
