I'm having problems with my body and clothing textures messing up when i put them on. Other poeple can wear the very same clothing and has no effect on them. I know it's not the video card because others can see the mess ups as well.

Actually, you may be surprised to know that it almost certainly is your video card.
The way clothes work is a little different than you might think. Your client downloads all your clothing and tattoos, assembles them on your end, then sends the texture back to the server, where it's then relayed back to all the other clients. This may sound a little odd, but it's actually what happens.
The problem you're seeing is likely because of a thermal or electrical problem in your video card. In other words, it's either overheating, or it doesn't have enough juice. What card do you have? What is your power supply's make and model?

Yeah, I figured it was a 6800. Those things have insane power requirements. Find out what kind of power supply you have, and then buy a new one. You want at least 20 amps on the 12v rail.

Before you go out and buy another power supply...
A 350 watt power supply, so long as everything is in working order, is probably plenty for your needs, and certainly enough to run a video card along with all other components. If you're concerned about your hardware, run some 3rd party diagnostic tools.
What you are seeing could also be the result of the asset server issues. I've had to force reload textures the same way, by going into the Appearance editor. Give it a few days, see if the problem fixes itself, then re-open this thread if it doesn't. Exhaust all possibilities that this is just Second Life related before you spend money on new computer parts.

I am also having the same texture troubles, which started with the 1.5 upgrade, and I am using an NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420 on a Dell Dimension. Up until the upgrade, everything was working just fine.

Hey Phoenix. I had the same problem this morning with my avi. It appeared that I had on some clothes (jeans and boots) which I was not really wearing. When I went into appearance, those clothes didn't show up. Zyrra suggested I see what tattoos I had on. I took off my lower body tattoo, and voila, I lost the jeans and boots and was only wearing my skirt and blouse. So check tattoos. Good luck

I have this problem, too.

I have had this same texture / clothing problem too...for over a month now. Only certain pieces of clothing do it, like some skirts, but not all my skirts. I was given a work-around by Linden customer service after I reported the bug. It's not convienient, but at least you might be able to wear the item of clothing. Do this: Appearnace Edit Skin Change the skin by one or two counts. Save
My skirt "shadows" go away after this.
The next time I wear the skirt, I have to do the same thing, because the shadows come back if the item is put back into inventory.

If you're concerned about your hardware, run some 3rd party diagnostic tools. No, Fia, I'm sorry, that's incorrect. You MIGHT get by with a really high-end "350W" PSU, if the +12V rail was high enough amperage. Very, very few people own such high-end PSUs, however. The power consumption of the 6800 is far in excess of anything else out there. It needs more than a cheap $20 PSU can deliver. Look at the "amperage" column on the sticker on the side of your PSU -- for 12V, it should say something like "16A". I have 5 "350W" PSUs here. They all have a different rating on the 12V rail, from 8 to 16A, yet all are sold as "350W". That's a pretty broad discrepancy. Nightmare's issue was that he had a "400W" PSU, but when converting from the insane rating method that Q-Tec uses to a more practical one, it turns out to be about a 300W, and a crappy 300W at that. The combined wattage isn't a terribly valuble number. The amperage of each individual rail is what's important.
