I have had a problem with this for several weeks now, and have tried everything I can think of to resolve this issue to no avail.
The problem: I cannot right click anything to bring up it's pie menu.
Specifically: -I CANNOT bring up pie menus. -I CAN right click objects in the Inventory menu. -I CANNOT pan around with the camera angles. -I CANNOT create new objects. -It is like I am not even clicking these things at all. -Sometimes when I try to pan (by holding alt), the screen will turn just a little, and then stop.
My mouse: -Logitech USB Optical Scrollmouse (latest drivers) -Also a PS/2 Sony Vaio scrollmouse which USED to work with SL.
Things I've tried: -Uinstalling Logitech mouse and using PS/2 mouse -Rolling back Service Pack 2 to Service Pack 1 -Trying with both mice plugged in at the same time -Uninstalling SL completely and reinstalling (x10) -Mousekeys (doesn't work either!)
I have no problems with my mouse in any other application other than SL. I have no custom configuration on my mouse. It is a typical 2 button mouse with a scroll button between them. No other mice will work as well.
I have spoken with many people through bug report emails and not come up with any workable solution. I've also chatted live with Colin Linden on this problem.
Possible causes: -The mouse? I don't think so, because my other mice won't work with it either. -A recent update? My installing this Logitech mouse coincided with an update on SecondLife and my mouse stop working properly beyond that point. (About 3 weeks ago) -Windows XP Service Pack 2? I had installed this earlier, but I have since uninstalled it and am back on Service Pack 1. -???????
Any help that can be offered would be greatly appreciated. I haven't been able to enjoy SL for close to a month thanks to this!

That's not very nice, newbies.
As far as the mouse problem, I really can't help (I've had an occasional similar problem with my mouse button bringing up a pie menu that promptly vanishes, but that problem tended to leak out into the rest of my computer too, so it's probably not related). Have you tried things in the Window/FullScreen mode (whatever one you're not using)? That's all I can think of, honestly. Do you hear the 'ding' noise when you right click something, or no?

I have tried it in fullscreen to no avail, and nope, no ding.
My computer is a Pentium 4 2.4ghz with 784mb RAM, 80gb HD, Radeon 9200 Sapphire SE @ 128mb. I use Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1. Maybe this newly announced version 1.5 of SL will solve my problem?

I once had a problem where I couldn't zoom in on anything with my mouse, that is, I couldn't click on anything either, at least the game didn't respond until I would do it over and over again (and I mean over and over and over...). It seemed to be lag related and cleared up a lot once I hung around less laggy areas and got more RAM. No idea if it's related to your problem. edit: I have 1 gig of RAM now

I'm wondering if it's some kind of process issue, where SL isn't getting access to the right-click input.
You're not running any kind of strange "mouseware" or anything like that, are you? What kind of framerate do you have in SL? Do you have problems switching from one application to another when SL is running?
Finally, you ARE using your USB mouse in a USB port, and not plugged into the PS/2 port through one of those Logitech USB > PS/2 dongles, right? If not, does plugging it into an actual USB port work?

I had a similar problem. My mouse-hover text would stop working, and I couldn't do any of the normal right-click stuff to bring up menus and that sort of thing.
I'm sorry I don't have a solution, because my problem went away when I took back the 9800XT, and bought a cheap nVidia based card (waiting for my 6800 to arive)
I would suggest that it might be related to the ATI drivers, though, since they seem to be problematic in numerous ways (and is exaxtly why I took back the 9800xt)
Maybe try older driver versions, as is suggested somewhere for some other graphics related issue..?
Sorry not much, just a thought.. I know it was pretty frustrating for me.
Cheers

I have an intermiitent right-click dysfunction like you describe, with no popup pie menus in SL. However, I use NVIDIA graphics cards on NVIDIA nForce2 chipsets, so this is not an exclusively ATI issue.
The odd thing was that on the same computer, my spouse was able to use the right-click menus on SL, and I could not. Switching computers, the problem stayed with my avatar, and did not occur for my spouse! The problem appeared to be linked to the avatar, not the hardware!
The latest update cleared up the problem for my avatar.
