I was wondering what everyone uses for SL, connection wise? cost? What are your network settings for SL? (or what do you set it at?)
I have Rogers @ Home. 1.3 Megabit Cable (they say it's capped at 150k\sec DL and 20k\sec UP) 39.95$ a month.
I've seen a 280k\sec DL and 110k\sec upload for more then 1 dl ( > 100megs )
SL settings I used to set mine up at around 147kpbs in SL, with 0.2% packet loss resulting. Anything higher would get 10% loss

You really want to know? 2.5 - 3mb comcast cable Alek and I run simultaniously with 300 or 500 settings, and usually at least 2 or 3 other computers on the network online. No packet loss.

512k adsl here, capped at 3gigs per month and i usually exceed it. its bloody murder, this month was about $100 due to all the excess bandwidth usage. ouch!

Sort of off topic, but why is it a lot of countries have usage caps? I pay just over $40 a month for all the use I want. A per hour rate or bandwidth cap would kill me.

Don't hold your breath Loki - a lot of US companies are considering such caps.

No clue what my bandwidth rates are since they seem to change anyway, but I run at 500 in SL without packet loss. (SL claims to hit that download speed and maintain it regularly, although I'm still not sure I believe it. ) But believe me, it's STILL laggy to fly through very dense areas.

3mbps DL, ~1mbps UL Cable, $40 a month. That's what they say, anyway, but it's probably higher. Right now I have my network settings at around 820 with no PL at all. I could probably go higher if I wanted. And no caps now or in the forseeable future... In fact, they raised the bandwidth to 3 from 2 a few months ago at no additional cost to customers.

1.8 Mbit DL/256Kbit UL Comcast Cable. I believe I set my connection speed at around 756kbit for SL (pumped the texture bandwidth some.)

In their exuberance to kill Peer-to-Peer, many companies may be forced to institute harsher caps or per-byte charges, like our friends down under at Telstra do. It's all a horrid mess, with no clear winner. Just wait until VOIP (Voice Over IP) becomes a hot topic (the heat is rising), that will become another avenue of potential tax/regulation.
Just a friggin mess, I tell ya.
Me? I'd love to just start running fiber from house to house (trench, string it, whatever) and make an independant network. You know, when the internet used to be fun.

1.5/365 covad adsl. I have SL set at 500 and I have no packet loss. Except for between like 2pm to 5pm, for some reason I get packet loss then. I pay about $80 a month.

Bresnan Cable at home, it gets 1.5 to 2.1 Mbps most of the time. haven't ever seen packet loss there unless I left other apps *cough*kazaalite*cough* running. US$40/month
Wireless WAN service at work with Oronico cards and high-gain antennas, supposedly capped at 256Kbit (occasionally download speed belies this, most of the time it doesn't) and behind at least 3 hardware firewalls, how it works at all sometimes I dont know. plenty of packet loss but only occasionally... wind makes a lot of difference some days... other days the high loss has no obvious reason. US$way to much to setup/Way to much per month (but not sure exactly how much)
