Second Life doesn't like old ATI graphics cards even though my laptop with ATI Mobility Radeon™ 7000 IGP still runs without crashing for a minute. It makes me wonder if this was my ATI drivers or the fact the coders can't be bothered to fix the bugs with older cards.
I've tried several alternative viewers like OnRez, SLim viewer, all crash after running for a minute or so (probably based on the same buggy code).
Still it would be nice to know if anyone knew why the following actually prevents or reduces crashing.

As long as Second Life runs for moment you have 2 options: enable wireframe mode with Shift + Ctrl + R or: disable render simple (Ctrl + Alt + Shift + 1) and disable volume (Ctrl + Alt + Shift + 9) (only if advanced menu is enabled with Ctrl + Alt + D).
Wireframe mode seems to be the most stable for some reason, a pain to wander around I know but at least you can see where you're going and can touch objects.
Apart from that you'll have to use text based clients like SLeek or Metabolt the choice is yours. :)
