Is there any way to force SL to use 16 bit graphics??
I have a pretty low powered machine and get a huge increase in graphics if I use 16 bit.. but SL refuses to start .. Error Creating Window. This is both on windows and linux.

I put my desktops back to 32 bit (24bit on linux) and SL loads fine??

but all textures are more than 16 bit, forcing it to 16 bit would not make it much faster, therefore its not an option.

Does ANYTHING run in 16bit anymore? (O_O)

/me imagines SL being rendered like Duke Nukem 3D and shudders. ((>_<;))

I guess it COULD be done with 100% avatar impostors, prim impostors, sculptie impostors, but... why?

If you need to get on SL with such a low powered computer, check out SLeek. It gives you the ability to chat, view inventory, view profiles, and not much more. I feel dirty for even suggesting it. (=_=)

Backward compatability is a one way street. In other words, your OS being say 32/64 bit, will support and run 16 bit programmes (to a degree), but your programmes are not backwardly compatible. No more than you can run a 64 bit programme in a 32 bit OS.
