Several days into my trial, and I haven't been able to play at all yet. When second life loads, if I tell it that it is ok to send error reports it crashes during the 'detect hardware' phase...if I tell it not to send error reports it goes through 'detect hardware' and says 'loading secondlife' then the box vanishes, and nothing ever happens...no game, no messages, nothing.  Any ideas, or suggestions are apreciated! Frost |

Welcome Frost.. now if we can just get you in-world.. my suggestion is first try sending a detailed report of this to Linden Labs at [EMAIL]support@secondlife.com[/EMAIL]. you may have a firewall problem.. or if you're running a Virus Scanner or Internet Safety program it could be detecting a connection that it doesn't trust. ..i know i have Norton running and everytime i update to a new update i have to choose to Permit Access for it to run. let us know what happens. hope to see you in world!

I thought about mailing support...but there's not much details to tell, I posted the details...lol
In the process of troubleshooting other things, I currently have no firewall, or anti-virus running. (scary huh?)

hmm.. did you try completely removing SL from your hard drive and re-installing from scratch? also, emailing support may help more than posting here.. while the Lindens will read posts here, they will respond better to a support-issue email.. i think.. update us again with the next .. er .. update..

The next time that happens, check the task manager. Sometimes SL will hang after hiding the "loading SecondLife" box, but before showing the main window. At least for me, when that happens, I need to reboot before SL will start working again.
