I was told that with my motherboard, this is the best card I can upgrade to.
Can someone with this card tell me, will this be alright for playing SL even though its not listed as a recommended card on their website?

A 7300 GT should work just fine, I Ran SL on a much worse card although it wasnt as pretty as my current one.

yup, all the way on too, ive a 7950 GX2 on one pc and a 7800 on another.. fine cards.. SL isnt as demanding as games like crysis..  |

Running a 7300 GT here, no problems.
Sometimes get those messages about my system not meeting the minimum standards for SL at log in, but I ignore them.

The 7300 GT is a very nice card, and perfectly ok for SL. I guess you need an old PCI (not PCI-X) card, and although there's a PCI verion of 8500 GT too, it's more expensive and not really faster than the 7300 GT. (On the other hand I'd look into the possibility of upgrading your mb and CPU too, cause there are very cheap and very fast Dual-Core (E2160-E2220) CPUs available with the best price/performance rate I've ever seen.)
