We have a certain parcel in Slate that will have unique music for it.

I understand the basic principle of putting in a URL in the correct area to make music play, but the music that we need to play is actually located on my machine as well.

I've been told that by using WinAmp and a ShoutCast plug-in it is totally doable that I could be my own streaming music server.

I have obtained WinAmp 5.07 and the 1.86 ShoutCAST DSP plugin. But, when I run WinAmp, and set my URL to my IP Address at the port defned in the plugin, nothing happens.

If anyone has used this setup successfully, and can help me getting it to work, I will be eternallh grateful, as will all the other peope working on the new Slate Mall.

If possible contact me ingame, so I can be at that machine to do whatever it is I will need to do to make it work.

Thanks for your kindness in sharing your knowledge!

You need the Shoucast DNAS server i think.. Im @ work now, so I cant check, but you need to run a server and then connect the Winamp Shoutcast plug in to the server... There is a button "connect" somewhere.

Besides that, i cant hear my own stream on my land. So i just listen to my winamp playing, and people on my land have a 30 second delay.

Unless you have a very large amount of bandwidth at your disposal, using your own machine as a server is not really doable.
eg: 4 or 5 users connected could pretty much saturate a DSL line.

There are 2 options really ...

1. Buy an account from a Shoutcast service provider.

2. Cheap and cheerful with drawbacks ...
You can play MP3 files stored somewhere else on the internet. This may violate the rules of that service provider so you need to be careful. You could make an mp3 and use a script to restart it periodically. This method also has another drawback in that when you leave and come back to the land parcel, the mp3 will start playing from the begining again. So each avi in the sim will be hearing the music but not in sync with each other.
To play an mp3 simply point the parcel at its URL.
