Sim crossing issues (Not the usual ones)

I make vehicles for a 'living' in SL. I know about the hell of getting vehicles across sims. But this is different.

Recently, mostly since 1.4, but it got worse a couple patches ago, I basicly cant cross sim borders. At all. I spin out of control for several seconds. Each time, I seem to reset back to the point I crossed the sim border two to four times. The thing is though, I actually do have control... After a few seconds, I'm back at my vehicles, and its continued to accept controls from me (I can actually steer during this zone crossing issue, its just hard because im not really seeing what I'm doing).

I have a gig of Corsair XMS DDR 400 ram, a 3 gig Intel Pentium 4, and a GeForce FX5900 256 card. On a SATA hard drive. This shouldn't be happening. My connection is solid, I get an average of about 80 ping, and 0 packet loss.

I defragged my hard drive last night to try to help, and nothing.

Time doesn't seem to be relevent, nor is server load. This happens no matter if I'm flying over Ahern at 9 PM, or the vehicle sims at 7 AM. Anywhere, anytime. Its not vehicle deep think... I've conducted tests with a scripted plywood cube and I get the exact same issues.

I give the same vehicles to other people that I'm testing and they report no problems crossing sims at all.

Can anyone think of anything that could be causing this?

I've noticed the same problems. Even various Lindens have commented on it. Please fix this soon! This is a serious problem.

I get the same problem in my touring balloon if I am going too fast. How fast are you trying to cross a border?

I constantly hit this same issue and am hoping if falls under that "Things will get worse before getting better" Cliche because this simline crossing issue has been ongoing for a year at least ..

I've had this intermittently too, since the very beginning.

But I stress again.

This happens now to me every single time . It makes it so I am unable to even test my vehicles at this point, because some types of testing will involve crossing sim borders.

I often fall out of my vehicle during this, too. Which means I loose whatever incarnation of the code that is, if I didnt back it up.

It has frustrated me to the point of giving up; I don't want to mess with testing a vehicle in conditions like this, its just not worth the stress.

Tried clearing my cache out of morbid curiosity.

Issue if anything is now worse: The exact same thing happens now if I cross on foot or flying.

What the heck is going on here?

which region are you trying to pass between.

you could try to rez the plain in another sim and then try another sim barrier to cross.

I have notices the newer sims in the upper right of the map are more difficult to cross.

Like I said in the first post, its global. Any sim, any time, any amount of users in it.

ok...
have you given the vehical to anyone else to test the sim problem.

have you tried the free trial airplaines availabe inworld.
If you still have troubles it could be a big bug that the lindens need to know about.

Again, as I stated, yes, and (better than) that... I've tried flying plywood cubes for gawds sake.

Maybe you need a passport to cross borders?

Try:

* A different account on same computer
* Same account on different computer

Then from there you might try changing your av (and removing all attachments) or completely reinstalling SL, depending on what works and doesn't work.

I would think it would be time to clear the second life directory and download a new client from the website.

If you have gone through several patches somthing could have gone wrong.

I would't try another account.

This may be barking up the wrong tree, but have you tried removing any avatar attachments and seing if it makes any difference?

Having just typed that, I don't think that's the problem, but one should check every possibility. I mention it only because I noticed the border problem last night when flying a planeload of avatars who all had high-prim skydiving attachments. Coincidence?

I've tried it all guys.

Cache clearing.
Re-installs.
Stripping attachments off.
Lowering graphcis options.
Turning off background programs.
Running fullscreen verses windowed.
Defragging my hard drive.

Nothing helps. At all. Not one bleeding bit of difference.

Have you tried a different network connection?
