I've been working on my car script a little. Funny thing is, every time I rez the thing now, the script will shut itself off. This is VERY frustrating; every time I go to test the thing it shuts down.
Problem script? I dunno. It's been running fine for a long time, and I've done nothing but make it simpler. This problem is recent, like yesterday recent. The script would just not stay active. I flew around a couple of sims and it started working again.
However, I think it would be useful to have "problem script" more clearly defined. Right now it's very vague and leaves you pretty much at the mercy of a system that doesn't reveal its rules. What should we look out for, what marks a script as "problematic"?
Other strangeness: after the last patch, every child object on my spawners for the Arena event had its script shut off. I tested it the night before (pre-patch) to make sure all was well since I knew I wouldn't have the time before the event (work). I logged on before the event (post-patch), did a quick check to make sure the spawners were listening and spawning monsters, all was well. It wasn't until the event actually started that I realized the spawners (topmost object) were fine, but the monsters weren't moving or dying. I ripped apart a spawner and sure enough, every single child object had all its scripts shut off. It took me over an hour to fix and ruined the event. With the exception of the bullets that only one kind of monster shoots there are no physical objects at all, the scripts are actually pretty simple. Why this agh-oh-knee...do we need to check all child objects' scripts after every patch?

yeah i've experienced this a bit too Tcoz. what stinks is if i sell a no modify copy to someone and the script shuts off theres no way to have the script start up again. i have the on_rez reset call in there, but if its not running it won't happen.
please address this Lindens. what makes a script shut off? how can we avoid it? what should we do if the object is no-modify?

I've also had scripts that refuse to turn on again, even after the Running check mark is re-checked. The only solution seems to be to move a copy of the script to inventory, delete the script from the object, and move the inventory copy of the script back to the object. I take it this recreates the script vm. Please look into this!

I to have had this happen with some scripts. Though I really didn't think anything of it. But thanks for the solution.

also, resaving usually fixes a stubborn running checkbox.

Nope, that didn't fix the bunch I was swaering and cursing at last night. In fact it seemed like the script's vm was really wedged and restarting it, even after re-writing the contents, didn't help.

Being stuck on the top floor of a high rise cuz of a elevator that "shut off" is no fun either.....what if it was on fire? lol I've had this trouble for 2 weeks now, rather frustrating when the elevator keeps failing. And yes the child objects of rezzing projects are a real pain, I have a rather large monstrosity of a self rezzing build that would hurt tremendously to reset all the scripts in. As each floor rezzes the floor above it and the build is 12 floors plus a roof. Haven't been so fortunate yet as to have these scripts shut off but if they were to do just that I'd probably just delete the build. As its not worth the effort to pull each floor out one by one, reset save to inv then drag to next floor reset save....etc...... Plz Plz Plz fix this

Sounds like a problem, certainly not intended behavior. We will figure out.
