Can you make things rez into their full shape at a further distance away?

This has nothing to do with draw distance.
But, as an example, I have two tyre swings and before flying up to it for the 1st time, they looks like the round tyres are hexagons.
You can get "resonably close" and they still look like this, then just moving a fraction closer they "pop" into their full round shape/quality.
Then you can move further away or even a long way away and they are still at their full shape/quality.
I then fly to a neighbouring sim and come back and "oddly enough" one of the tyres is still it's full round shape and the other is back to it's not quite fully rezzed hegazon shape, until (again) you move close enough to make it change.
Is there anyway to make this happen a litlle less?
Thanks.

You might be able to increase your object detail level in Preferences Graphics .

From: SuezanneC Baskerville You might be able to increase your object detail level in Preferences Graphics . Thanks for ths suggestion. But I'm at a loss as to what else I could turn up higher to make any difference. The only things I don't have at max are: Draw Distance (which is at 256) Max Particle Count (which is at 4096) Mesh Detail Objects (which is in the middle) And Avatar Cloth Rendering (which is off and I've no real idea what is does anyway!) Everything else is either ticked on, or set to max setting.

They COULD be sculpties I suppose? Isn't there some issue with scuplties and not showing themselves in full distance until close? Phot showing what I mean below. But (which seems weird) once they HAVE fully rezzed into their fully detailed form, then I can zoom right back and they still look perfect.

This is a problem with the SL client being too aggressive about level of detail. The concept is that at a distance, they calculate fewer polygons for an object, on the assumption that from that far away, you won't see the difference anyway. But in practice, circular objects show this much more than a lot of other things, and the effect is exactly what you show here. Instead of a circle, you get a hexagon, until you get closer.
Once you DO get closer, your client remembers that the object actually had a more complex geometry, and continues to display the better image for a while as you back away.
Content creators tend to complain about this sort of visual distortion, and we should be making a JIRA bug report about this particular release of the client being too aggressive in reducing Level of Detail on circular prims.

Many thanks for the excellent reply Looks like it's just a "feature" I'll have to put up with :

Have you tried setting RenderVolumeLODFactor on Debug Settings to a higher number? I moved mine up from 1.25 to 4 and that has helped immensely.

I'll have to try that when this bug causes issues with something I am trying to photograph. But of course, that will only fix it for you, and everyone else will still see the distortion.

Changing that setting does in deed make a great difference. I'm just going to assess how much performance hit it makes.

What the heck does that do? What is the max setting it can go to and how does it impact performance? Whatever it is, i am increasing it. I noticed this same problem on a nipple pierce i made, which looked normal on the ground but looked hexagonal when i attached it until i relogged, at which point it appeared circular again.

Funnily enough. It has made a BIG difference changing that value to a road bridge which had wooden planks which were in fact Sculpties, so they are rendering from a greater distance.
But oddly it does not seem to have made any diference to the tyre circle'ness as I showed in the image in my earlier posting

Mine was set to pre-set to 2.0. What determines the default setting?
I moved the setting to 4.0.
Something tells me i will never remember that I did this.

"Mesh Detail Objects (which is in the middle)"
Try sliding that all the way to the right. =)
