Hi there,

I messed up my sound settings. I'm on a WinXP system with a VIA VT8237A high definition sound device on board, controlled by Realtek HD audio bus. Two days ago I played around with that sound manager and it was easy to mess everything up but it's hard to restore my old settings.
Now I hardly hear any voice in Songs, mp3s, videos etc. It sounds like being far far away. I can hear music but even that sounds like being in a cathedral. Believe me, I tried every setting with that sound manager to get back to a better result but it won't work. I even tried to deactivate that sound manager by using msconfig and editing the startup file, I tried to deinstall , but even then that echoing sounds with far away voices stays active.

Who knows how to get rid of that and having a normal sound without any of those silly effects ?

That's how it looks like...

I've been using Realtek for a while and have never come across this problem. If all else fails, just go into Windows Task Manager and take it off your processes list. Honestly, Realtek is a great program for accessing your audio options but its got a ton of bugs that need to be ironed out.
