I've been having problems in Charissa where the sim time dilation drops for a moment. It appears to occur when multiple people arrive at the same time.
The "Simulator->Time->Image" time goes over 200ms at times.
The Wiki does not explane what "Images Time" mean. I am assuming that it means the time to download the images.
I moved my site up to 250m and have removed a bunch of images, but since this is a Sim issue I can't tell if it's related to my site.
Is it possible to use "HTML on a prim" to load the images from a non SL server?
I also know that there are a lot of scripts running, however the sim seems to cap that at 16ms. The Script Perf drops as the Dilation drops.

We've had recent issues with this--not just in Charissa. Other regions have been getting bloated. Our gridmonkey (developer on a rotation who takes care of region-related problems) this week, Aura, has been restarting them when they get too unhealthy, pending a better fix in the future. It's a memory leak problem; under normal conditions, even if you have many textures in a region, they shouldn't cause such a disturbance in the simulator stats. When all else fails, reboot. Could it possibly be overall grid load associated with the huge peak demands on the server side lately?

Normaly I think the servers would be more likey to be limited by Internet bandwith than hard drive speed.
So a memory leak sounds more likely to be the cause.
It also means that there is notthing I can do about it. Even if I used HTML on a prim, the client would download images from other parcles.
Edit: This would also explane why the SIM is getting restarted more often.
FYI: I have a couple scripts that need to be manualy restarted after the SIM resets. PS: I am working on new versions of the scripts.

I thought it was just me - A few updates ago, frame rates and sim Time Dilation/fps was excellent. Since the last 2 upgrades (at least) Time Dilation and dropping frame rates are making SL into a SLideshow.

I coddle my private sim, make sure it never has too high of a script load, and I'm very careful to avoid loading it too high in other ways. Still, we see this Images Time problem, and I can tell you when it's almost 100% likely to happen: when someone teleports in. I can tell when someone's showing up in the sim because the time dilation will shoot down for 10-20 seconds or more at a time, and images time and/or net time will skyrocket -- stats I don't really have any control over through careful choice of content.
It seems to go in cycles. It'll get worse and worse for awhile, and then the sim will crash (or I'll get sick of it and reboot it), and then it won't be quite so bad for a few days, and then it'll start happening again. I'm basically resigned to horrid sim-lag every time someone teleports into my sim, which sucks.
Is it a bad idea for me to personally reboot my sim when I notice it dragging like this, as opposed to letting it go ahead and crash or letting a linden notice and reboot it? What I mean is, by rebooting pre-emptively, would I be preventing LL from gathering useful data to eventually fix this?

I think that event planers will simply have to ask for a sim restart before a major event in order to make sure the event goes well.
30 furry AV's + memory leak + beautiful setting = disaster!
I have some snapshots of a lovely SL wedding that went well before this issue came up. I wonder what would happen now?

Yes, I find at times when I fly around in New Caledonia (I'm the only one in it), Images Time will spike to 20 or 30 ms+ (Just saw 150 ms).
I do hope this will get fixed soon.

I am seeing this in my sim too. The only fix so far has been to reboot it every time this happens.

We've been experiencing this same issue in Isabel for quite some time now.
When it occurs, time dilation will drop into the toilet (below 0.50), and Images time will rise above 50ms.
The only thing that seems to (temporarily) correct the issue is a sim restart.
I've submitted many bug reports over the last month, and emailed support last week as to the status of this issue. So far, I've received no responses (to my support email) other than the automated variety.
What is most frustrating about this issue, is that apparently Support is now under instructions to resist restarting mainland sims. I spoke with Michael Linden by phone last week, explained the Time Dilation and Images time issue and asked if he could investigate - and ultimately restart our sim.
While he graciously came out and visited - and noted the horrible performance, he was unaware of any Images Time issue, and declined to restart our sim. He instructed me to reduce content, and left us as we were.
Several hours later, the sim was restarted by a different Liason - and all was much better.
Edited to Add: Re: Teleporting...
Yes - Teleporting seems to make this issue worse. Additionally, crossing the sim boundary into the sim has the same effect. Since our build is split between two sims, this happens rather frequently.

Hey maties,
Probably very low on the priority list, but I was wondering if this was yet a known issue? Or, does anyone know of a solution to this problem?
Cheers,
Iron.

Is it just me or did this get worse in 1.11?

I think it is getting worse. My frame rates have halved since the last major update (1.10?). Time Dilation and Physics FPS are erratic wherever I go, so it's not even confined to a particular sim.

A friend of a friend has had terrible lag when visiting our sim and yet mostly and when we did a test and a spot survey it seemed. This problem seems to come in sort of bubbles that surge and then abate. I am wondering if the issues mentioned here are the sause of it.

You can go ctrl-shift-1, and then click on Simulator and then Time.
If images time spikes, this is likely the problem. If it is, please bug report it. Also, perhaps posting in this thread to describe your experiences might be useful as well.

This problem is crippling many of my sims, it peaked at 1600ms in one sim last week :/ Is there any word from LL on this yet?

This is a show stopper sim crippling bug

This has crippled Extreme and I'm suspending events there until it's fixed.
