IMs recieved while logging out

A couple of weeks ago, while I was in the process of logging out (the screen had gone blank to the progress meter showing the logout process), I heard the sound that corresponds to when we recieve an instant message.

I realized at that moment that there might be a problem, and it turns out there is. That instant message was completely lost. I didn't get it when I logged back in, nor did I recieve an email for it as I typically do.

This is a fairly minor bug, but I just thought I'd bring it to light so that it could be looked into.

The same thing could even happen just before I click the Quit button. For example, I could be just about the click the button as I recieve an instant message, but I've already sent the signal to my hand to click the mouse, and it's too late.

Perhaps the SL client could be changed so that when we logout, it doesn't automatically close the program. Maybe it could behave the same as when the sim goes down, cut to a grey screen where we can still review our IMs and chat history, and then we can choose to close the client?

Just an idea =)

I think this is a great idea. To expand a bit more...

Maybe we could have a way of marking an IM as read (I think this is already happening and controls the flashing on the IM button) I have lost many an IM to crashes too. Ding Ding...alt-view too much...crash...no more IM.
