SL has never run exactly smoothly for me, but I've been able to at least get on for the most part. Now however, it has started crashing pretty much as soon as I pop up inworld. Occasionally I can move around a bit first but generally it's instant death, fuck you for playing.
I recently swapped my shit GeForce MX440 for a slightly less shit GeForce FX5200. It has helped some, but since then my crashes have progressed to the point they are at now; before I would crash pretty frequently frequently but I'd get a few hours of hanging out in between restarts.
Now it usually bluescreens me, last time I wrote down the technical info and it said:
STOP 0x0000000A 0xF1B40B20 0x00000002 0x00000001 0x804E6641
Which means nothing to me, but maybe someone here can decipher it.
I also get four CI events in my event viewer upon each crash, all at the same time, telling me that it's removing my C;\ drive, my documents and settings, my system volume info and my docs and settings\all users\docs folder from the indexing service, which shouldn't be on anyways.
I'm running winXP corp SP2, which I'm going to reinstall soon anyways.
Also, slightly unrelated: after I put the FX5200 in textures started working funny... I'm unable to see any texture tinted by the color option unless I turn on atmospheric shaders. But it didn't start right away, it was fine and then after a few days it suddenly happened. Anyone have a clue?

Sounds pretty much like a hardware problem. There are a number of free system test tools around, like Everest or memtest86. Give them a try.
Regarding the textures, you did not write what driver you use. Most problems are caused by graphic drivers. I'm not sure about the FX5200 but in general the 175.19 NVidia driver is the best to use in the moment.

The driver should be the generic forceware whatever off the nvidia site, I'll check up on that and reinstall and see what happens. I'll try one of those system test tools out as well and see what gives. I'm thinking it may be not be the graphics card 'cuz like I said, it froze with the MX440 too, just not as much and badly as now. Of course with my computer luck it'll turn out both cards are screwed up I bet! In any case, thanks for the help!
