Hello,
I reviewed the list of approved video cards on the SL system requirements site. However, these particular cards listed do not seem to be offered on any new systems these days. I am not sure how updated the SL system requirements site is. We have 10 Faculty who want to begin to use SL and wish to order new systems and the systems that we recommend campus wide are available with the ATI Radeon HD2600XT card but I want to make sure these will work with SL? The SL system requirements site lists the ATI X2600 but I am not sure that is the same card!
Thank You,

I would really second guess using that card... I actuallty bought that card. I bought the Visiontek Radeon HD 2600 XT Video Card - 512MB GDDR3, PCI Express, CrossFire Ready, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDTV, HDMI Support, Video Card only to get it home and fin dout it wont run SL; It would crash and freeze the computer, crashing out of SL and causing the screen to go completely black. would try to see if they have fixed any issues on the site, but this was run off the latest drives at the time. I ended up swapping to a BFG 8500 512 after all that.

Supported Laptop requirements for SL
07-30-2008 05:28
First, thank you for your reply. I appreciate this. However, now I have been told that these 10 systems are going to have to be laptops and they are going to be loaned out to students for a class that is going to be using SL. So, I now need to recommend a laptop that will have the system components that support SL. Currently at our University we recommend Lenovo computers (due to a contract). But, for this project, I will recommend what ever I determine will work the best through my research. I am new to SL, I have not yet used it so any assistance is greatly appreciated.
