Strange Mouse coordinates showing on my screen

Not sure what it is and i dont remember clicking anything but last night i was helping a friend do some work and noticed that on the screen above my gestures button on the toolbar there were numbers that kept rolling ...and i noticed that it was in relation to my mouse. Where ever i moved my mouse on the screen the numbers would change. If anyone knows how to turn this off i would like to know as its driving me nuts...my perifaral(sorry for bad spelling) sees this all the time and really distracts me and also its causing a bit of lag for me as well.
