plz help me.. big problem.

ok, i played this game for a long time, everything went so good, yeah sure lil kick out here and there, or it crash, i never reported it, thought it was no big deal, so anyways... i play this game like 12/7.. but of course i'll take breaks to eat and stuff, but i gotta admit.. im a game nut.. lol, ok. now for the problem.. one day i was online, night time, around.. ohh say maybe 9M, im at the sandbox talking with my friend, then all the sudden my computer went black for about 3secs, then came back, the game is all blurry now, tried restarting, did virus check, defragged my computer, but every time i get on there i cant see anything really good, its worse then opening your eyes under water... but its only like that for the game, when i log off its clear, but if i log on sl it gets blurry.. so what should i do? i already unistalled and reinstalled it, that didnt work either, im kinda upset, this game is like my life lol. anyways.. please reply..

I think what is happening is your screen is changing its resolution when you play SL. Occasionally, when the resolution is changed on a monitor, the refresh rate lowers (depending upon the age of the monitor). This only happens in full-screen mode. Just run SL in a window, and maximize it, and you should be able to play without blur.

now my whole computer when im off of sl the computer blurrs so much it shakes the screen looking like its gonna blow up, even as im typeing this its all blurred, so what the heak? did my computer catch something? or is my video card crapped out on me? i did however have the same video card when i was 16, now im 18, and i'd play online games so much, but this never happen befor...

sounds like a piece of hardware is dying, maybe the monitor?

Having experienced it a couple of times I'd definately say it sounds like the death of a monitor. Good thing CRT monitors are big and cheap now though!

Yeah, that's definitely the monitor. Depending on the brand, it may still be under warranty, but if you've had it as long as you've had your video card, it's probably not.

and one good thing - is with a modern monitor its almost impossible to do this kind of damage to it. when a program tries to force most newer monitors to display a mode that is out of its range they just switch to black now and they wont damage themselves trying to do something they cant.

its confuseing really, it dont make up its mind, after i downloaded the other sl patch it actually was clear for 30mins, then it messed up again, and yes.. i did have the same monitor, ever since i was 16.or maybe younger, but my mom thinks i made it brake, cuz im on the computer all day doing nothing else but playing online games.. got the best of me lol, but now its at a shop getting fixed. but its so weird, it goes clear, then really blurry like the screen wants to blow up.. really strange....

I had the exact same problem with 2 monitors, one at home,and one at work.

I think the problem is that some (cheapo in this case) monitors don't like being run in some resolutions at high refresh rates (even those that the support). They work alright for a while, at that resolution but then go very blury. And then when u switch resolutions they are fine.

From experience I'd say that ur monitor will probably work alright if you don't use the particular resolution/refresh rate (which doesn't sound like an option for you and SL), but if you do it will probably die completely pretty soon.

So have you told your Mom, you have to be 18 to play SL?

i started playing second life when i was 18, im still 18, going on 19 soon, what i meant was i started playing on the computer when i was 16, i played everquest, sims online, camelot, i started to notice about the computer when i was 14, but my computer wasnt really good, so i only played runescape, or serious sam, or the sims, but it was when i was 16 when i got the better stuff, and the computer took over my life, im 18 now, will be 19. im a computer geek, and proud of it .

I think its amusing how at certain periods of life time is measured in age.. like

I would have said, "I had this monitor for at least two years", and this young man phrased the same thign "I have had thi smonitor since I was 16, now I am 18." It obviously means the same thing.

This is not a poke at this gentlemans youth, just an interesting observation about how people perceive time
