Voice Chat won't work?

Hey guys, my voice chat hasn't worked on SL for a while.
I have made sure of the following:
My microphone is plugged in
My microphone is not muted
Voice Chat is enabled in my preferences
My microphone works on programs other than Second Life

I can connect to VC just fine and hear what other people are saying, but I feel like my microphone should work. I've reinstalled SL and also turned voice chat on and off again, replugged everything in, to no avail. What's going on and how can I fix this?

Ithra, it may be something as simple as requiring a new headset. When my last headset deteriorated, hearing was fine but voice was either non-existent or there was extreme interference. Another thing to ensure is that your firewall is not blocking you although I would query that if you can hear others. Hope someone else comes along with better ideas.

I just bought a new mic a week ago, and now i got the same problem!!!!

HELP!!!!

My mic is bran new. And I'm not the only one who has this problem, I'm convinced that someone, somewhere knows how to solve it.

I'll say again.
My mic works on all other programs.
Everything that should be on in my preferences is indeed on, the mic volume is turned up to max.
I've turned everything off and on again.

I got mine to work again.

What i did was reload the software for my headset. Im using Realtek Ac'97
