I am in the process of ordering a new Dell laptop but the media card that comes with it is
"Mobile Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD With PC-Card Latitude E6400"
Anyone have any experience with this card in SL--I have had some really bad experiences in the past when I moved away from Nvidia. Unfortunately, its not an option on this model.
Thanks--CUSOON

Avoid integrated graphics like the plague. A discrete graphics card is a must-have, especially for SL. If Dell doesn't offer a notebook in your price range that has one, then go with a different brand. I recommend ASUS or Malibal. ASUS models with discrete nVidia cards start at as little as $799. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2034940032%2050001315%201292318470&bop=And&Order=PRICEMalibal's offerings start at $1499. http://www.malibal.comBoth companies make top quality laptops at a feature-to-dollar ratio that puts most other brands to shame. Dell's no exception.

go with an XPS or Studio with a Nvidia or ATI card if your stuck on Dell. if your going to buy one with any Intell GPU on board Graphic card your not going to be happy in SL with it.

I'd rather stick with Intel than ATI anytime soon . Only one to recommend is Nvidia. Intel and ATI are not supported by or do not support SL properly.

ATI mostly works but its more of a dice roll, and 3x worse with mobile chips, nvidia is the way to go for the best chances of working right out of the box, and being future proof

I just didn't want to put my fan boy opinion on Nvida LOL
I agree that Nvida is the way to go especially with mobile cards but hey some say ATI does great I just know mine didn't and my intel couldn't handle anything but low and 64 draw and still ran like poo

From: Chosen Few Avoid integrated graphics like the plague. A discrete graphics card is a must-have, especially for SL. nah... some integrated stuff is good.. like Geforce 9400M integrated... kicks the pants off of any of Intel's integrated. There are discrete graphics cards that run SL ok that actually run worse than the 9400M. If it is integrated just make sure you do a lot of research before buying it... but if its not integrated... still do some research...
