*bangs head on wall* more texture problems...

OKay, since 1.2 or therabouts, I've had the weirdest bug.

When playing SL, eventually the textures refuse to load past the "extremely super fuzzy" part. Essentially, the client *knows* that there's a texture there, it just refuses to load it past the initial texture loading procedure.

This affects everything... clouds, particles, textures, avatars. Especially my own avatar.

It seems to affect the "most used" textures during the session. For instance, my avatar is in view 99% of the time, so he's usually the first to look like a melted crayon. From there, it goes on to the default wood texture, to glass, to other things I use daily.

Relogging solves the problem for about 5 minutes, and then it goes again.

What the hell is the problem? :/

My radeon 9000 should be more than happy to swap textures around it's cavernous 128 MB of memory, right?

What can i do?

I've got a GeForce 4MX card with 128MB memory, and I've encountered much the same problem, but the textures do load, they just take their own sweet time about it. And sometimes they slip down one notch from fully loaded to fuzzy before loading again.

AV alternates beween loaded and looking like the melted crayon that LF so eloquently describes. This also depends on how far in/out I'm zoomed.

Mildly annoying given I'm not building. I don't remember having quite this much trouble with textures in 1.2... Is this a known issue?

For me there's a short delay, when it IS loading textures, between fuzzy and sharp. However, eventually it just stops bothering to load up again.

Stupid question, but you do have your texture cache in SL set to 128 MB, right?

Yes, it's set to 128, the maximum my card allows.

Setting my texture cache itself to "large" (512 MB) results in texture corruption on TOP of fuzzy textures.

Next stupid question:

Tried setting your card to 64MB?

I get the same thing. And sometimes the texture will load, then turn fuzzy again while I'm looking at it.

I've tried each of the memory settings 32, 64, 128 -- all the same. Tried deleting my cache. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling SL.

I have (the SL-unfriendly) ATI Radeon 9700 Pro 128.

(pre-emptive note to moleculor: *don't* tell me to just get an nVidia, unless you want to buy it for me :D)

Ditto. It sharpens, fuzzies, and then sharpens again. Mildly annoying.

It might be because, you know, I'm a moron.

What's everyone's cache set to? I just turned mine to 1000 MB, and I haven't had any uber-fuzzy textures yet..

*sigh* it's like I'm stupid or something.
