How much memory does your new PC have?

Vista has some fancy features that only serves to make it look "nice". Changing the looks to something more basic and disabling effects might help.

When you say you have a "memory loss come up on sl", would this be referring to the retched memory leaks? I get those ever so often when i use the LL client, but not that often when using the Nicholaz viewer.

Yes what Darion said I had to use the Nicholaz because of mem loss, which I believe has to do with my 64bit not Vista. No problems now.

hmm, I wonder if this will be edited by a Linden for posting an outside weblink?

Unless you have some reason to clear the cache, don't. Really.

Vista uses shared video ram, and SL detects that as if it was dedicated, that is why memory drains so quickly.

I have Vista and I have never had an "out of memory" error. Up to 6 hours straight on SL at one sitting.

I've had SL open 15 hrs straight. and I use the Official viewer, it registered 1024mb of Vram. which is not true, my vram should only be 256, which I fixed and I get 0 oom errors

I have 4GB of memory. thanks for all the resposes the problem is if not broken down in laymens terms i really dont know what your all talking about. i know nothing about computers. ok i know some. but can only fix it with step by step instructions lol. i have heard that vista runs things in back ground that do not need to be running. yet i have no idea how to get that to stop running. or if it will even help the memory loss. on my old pc it was 2GB memory with windows xp. i never had this problem. but i had only upgraded it to the sl version 1.19. maybe its this newer upgrade thats causing me problems now.
