It would be horrid for camera control, and everything else you really need the mouse or keyboard for. _____________________

it depends on yer joystick drivers.... higher end gaming preipherals often have a way to 'remap' axes/buttons on the peripheral to keystrokes or mouse movements so if you go with a decent ($50 and above stick...) theres a good chance the driver software will let you use it within SL by doin that if nothin else
if ya have a stick already and it doesn, i don't think there is a way of doin it directly unless you can work it in with some generic joystick driver that does (doable with game port joysticks.. not so doable with usb) _____________________

Yes, I have an "older" Logitech FF stick, too lazy to go over and look at it, WingMan something...
I was able to map the axes and some keys to it, but unfortunately I can't get it to emulate my mouse, so mouselook is a bit moot. But, it works, nonetheless. Just doesn't have the mapping capabilities I need for SL. |

Bino-
You might want to goto logitech's website (or www.wingmanteam.com which is the direct dev team's website) to see what updated drivers and profiles they have for your joystick. Colin |

Some of us were pushing for a joystick API a while back but it kind of fizzled when it became apparent it needed more detail re: how to have objects capable of capturing input either from a joystick OR a mouse OR the keyboard or some combination, which the users would choose for themselves.

Thanks for the other link Colin, I'll try that. I had gotten the latest drivers from Logitech's website, as opposed to using the CD which I knew was old
![]() Will try the site now. |

Si, it would be useful for the new vehicles...if we're talking analog joysticks here and not the old digital things like Atari's had, heh.

WTF is C3PO supposed to be USEFUL for anyway, besides whining? Stupid piece of scrap metal would be more useful recycled as a toaster. But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS! |
