Looking for a new approach to lagging

It's a daily challenge - how long can I keep from freezing, or lagging to the point of uselessness.
I clear my internet cookies and files daily.
I check defrag and viruses daily
I now clear my SL cache daily
I have settings low on prefs
I run speed tests, and hit 1.5Mbps often.
My graphics card is well above minimum requirements
Plenty of RAM and hard drive space
But...
I slow if I teleport
I slow if I check World map
I slow if I try to rez items
I often slow going sim to sim
Flying as high as possible helps, but I can't see anything (min. draw distance)

Please send help or a new update! Is there anything I have not checked?

Thanks for patience during this tirade!

I don't do any of these things, Lag is a very rare event for me, except in overcrowded areas.

It sounds as if my connection is slower than yours. Is it possible you are *overdoing* these things?

Is it also possible that your computer is getting over warm? I'm not sure what effect that would have but since I turned my fan up I've had better stability in SL.

I needed the reminder about the KISS rule.
Puter doesnt seem hot, but I could probs use a new fan with my upgrades!
