Hello,

I'm new to SL forums so I hope I picked the right sub forum

I'm playing second life on my laptop very well for a long time but when I tried to install it at my work pc that has Windows server 2003 OS I got the following error:

Second life is unable to run because your video card drivers didn't install properly, are out of date...etc

Is it drivers problem or hardware one? and what can I do?

Thanks in advance.

What is the graphics card? SL will run on some low-end graphics, but if your computer at work has a workstation graphics card, they are officially not supported, and the drivers may not be compatible. If you can post some system specs, especially your graphics card and driver version, we may be able to help more.

Display Device: Intel(R) G965 Express Chipset family

The Drivers:
Main driver: igxprd32.dll
version: 6.1.4.0010.4642

Maybe the problem is that I use Windows Server 2003 OS?

That Intel video Chipset cannot run SL. Intel video is no good for 3D games, especially graphic intensive games like SL.

You need an Nvidia GeForce card. Avoid ATI for SL.

You can, but download one of the old-school viewers. I can get decent framerates with no Windlight effects on an Intel GMA 915. SL support lists GMA 945 as the basement spec for SL.

The server OS could be an issue. Try running Second Life in XP mode.

http://nicholaz-beresford.blogspot.com/ has Nicolaz Old School Viewer.

On the desktop shortcut for Second Life, right-click and open "Properties"

One of the tabs will have a box for "Compatibility Mode"

Chose Windows XP.

Save and then open SL.
