The part in the first video just before the sequence showing the avatar demonstrates the equipment you need. Essentially the camera captures the room you are in, and the sensors determine your facing and position. Once you have that, the avatar is mixed into the real-world view, so it can be seen by a person wearing the glasses, or on a monitor screen.
Same thing with the table. They have an image capture program that reads the target on the table (the bar-code image) and uses that to determine angle of view, size, and position to impose the image onto the live video. |

SL and reality mix possible

Many thanks Veritable for that, I was kind of aware of the broad concepts, what I need is to speak to someone who has done, or can do the nuts and bolts of it. The camera tracking and display technology has moved on making a SL and reality mix possible in specific real life urban environments.
