There seems to be an awful lot of lag problems for me when I play SL and enter specific areas where there are lots of people. Sure, some lag is to be expected, but my machine slows to a halt, literally freezing briefly.
The machine is running WinXP Home, with 256 MB of RAM and I think a 2.0 GHz processor.
A friend of mine also has 256 MB of RAM and she has little to no problems playing at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What make and model of CPU, motherboard and video card do you have? What combination and type of RAM?
It sounds like it could be a paging problem, possibly due to "low" system memory. 256MB is certainly less than SL likes. Try this first, then try defragging your entire drive if that doesn't help. _____________________
