I am still unable to logon. I've tried everything i can do. i didnt get ONE SINGLE reply or anything on my last post so im trying this again. i havent been able to login for about a month now. whenever i try it does the downloading clothing forever then im either a smoke puff or im just nothing at the corner of the sim. unable to move or type or anything. at first i thought it was my internet because i was on it one day then the cable guy came out and did some stuff and it hasnt been working right since. so i called them again and they came out and said nothings wrong with the cable. Im out of ideas. i've tried getting on from other computers, tried reinstalling, restarting.. everything. and SL doesnt have a support hotline to call that ISNT billing problems.. can someone please help? or maybe help me get in contact with a linden who may be able to help you can e-mail me too.

you said you reinstalled it. you probably already did it, but did you try completely un-installing and then re-installing? alot of people were having trouble getting the release client to install because of something not getting deleted when it was supposed to switch all the files to the new ones. i have had that problem happen a couple of times where i logged in and i was in the corner of the sim but nothing was displayed on my screen except water and my hud attachments. but i relogged and it was fine, so i'm not sure what the problem is. sometimes my browser will not want to load any pages as if the internet is off, but i can wait a minute or 2 and try again without a problem. i thought it was just the wifi acting up, so i switched it to plugging in directly and still have the same problem. but i almost never get kicked off of sl even when the browser acts up while i'm in sl

I can probably answer why no one responded to your request for help. We need some information about your computer, operatiing system, internet connection and a discription of your problem (which is about the only thing you have given us to work with). As much as you can give: Computer make and model System RAM (type if you know....DDR, DDR2, etc) Operatiing system Graphics card or chipset Graphics RAM CPU plus the speed How you connect to the internet (Cable?) Is there a network (a router involved) Not much help can be offered without information......any given would be nothing but a guess.
A few basics to try. Check for a later driver for you graphics. Clear you cache. Log into a different place than you normally log into (try Philudoria). Reboot your modem and/or router by unplugging from the electrical source and leaving it off for 3 to 5 minutes then plug back in.
Other than that I'm about idea'd out.

That sounds something like what used to happen on my machine at work, until I forced the client to work on a particular port. It had something to do with software that was being run to prioritize internet traffic coming in and out of the office. Anyways... this might be worth a shot. Force SL to run on a particular port as follows. 1. Start the SL client 2. Without logging it, go to the top of the screen... choose Edit, and then Preferences 3. On the window that comes up, select the Network tab 4. Click the box that says "Custom Port Connection", and select a value (I believe this can be between 13000 and 13050... I use 13015 on my office machine). 5. You'll need to restart the client; close the SL client and start it up again to run on that particular port 6. Try logging in and hopefully you're not a cloud and able to move. Worked for me... hope it works for you.

Thanks!~ well thanks to the most recent forced download when you log in (sl though it was better than the ruthy look) you and others can be a puff of smoke when you deleted sl did you go in your personal folder and delet it from there as well?? on my pc its called customer documents i think been a wile you have to select show hidden files befor you will find it some times a bug sits in there you need to delet that one too just because you uninstall it duna mean its gone find every file related with sl and boot it befor installing new sl .........ive gotten smart and dont open my sl down load and save it in folder so if this kinda crap happens i have a older copie to use when the new one screws up good luck

I am sorry you are having problems.... it it makes you feel any better it is not just you. I have been unable to log onto my main avatar for weeks now and I have done everything under the sun including logging into my home, different regions, reinstalling, totally uninstalling, updating, etc and nothing.... but a friend that I trust got into my account immediately when I asked her to help me. She was able to log from a different IP address.
I failed to mention that I am having no problems being able to log my alt in.... on the same computer that I am unable to log my main avie onto. Go figure.... screwed up to the max.
If you or anyone has any ideas or if you have anything you tried that worked I would love to know because unless you have a premium account the people at Linden Labs are not compelled to help you..... even though I have about a thousand real life dollars worth of inventory in my main avies closet..... not that I can use it now......

Thanks!! And good luck Even Basic accounts can submit tickets on certain things - and this sounds like it might be something corrupted in inventory or another weird problem that the user can't solve. The OP might need to dump the user files that aren't overwritten by updates - on XP it's My Comp - harddrive -Docs&Settings-User-ApplicationData-SecondLife-avatar name. If you can't see Application Data you will need to :"Show Hidden Files" in Tools - Folder Options - View. Vista is different.
