Like way, way, way, way, way faster?

I know there are only 4 sims.

I turned on the standard visual options I usually do (Object bump, Full terrain, Highest Object Detail/Av detail, lowest tree detail, local lighting).

Smooth. Like 30-40 fps flying around the welcome area.

I don't get anything NEAR that in the real welcome area, even when there are 0 people around.

So I cranked the display distance up to 512 sq.m.

The whole of the four sims displayed before me, and my fps was 10-20. WOW !!! WOW WOW WOW!!!

Can it be?

Test grid is always somewhat faster then prod grid - just by factor of it being smaller and less populated overall.

However a great deal of the effort on improvement for 1.2 has been in the area of increasing frame rates. So a combination of the two I would expect. :D
